Our community worship on Sundays allows us to receive God's grace through forgiveness of sins, and allows us to hear God's word from The Holy Bible. Music is an important part of Lutheran Worship, and we sing hymns and spiritual songs, both new and time-honored, during our worship. Hymnals and Bibles are placed in the pews for your use and the entire service is printed in a bulletin so you can follow along and participate.

How do I get there?
Bethany is located at 2051 Sunset Cliffs Blvd. (Between Brighton Ave. and Cape May Ave.) We do have a Parking Lot which is located off the alley between Bethany Lutheran and Episcopal Diocese Of San Diego. If you're coming from the Freeway, the entrance to our parking lot is on the left side of Sunset Cliffs Blvd. Parking is also available on the side streets. If you pass Saratoga Ave., you have gone too far.
What should I wear?
We invite you to wear clothes you are comfortable in. Your clothing should reflect your awareness that you are in God's presence.
What should I expect in church?
We are a liturgical church. We worship using the format of hymns, songs, confession of sins, absolution, a Creed, a message, the Lord's Supper and a benediction.
We celebrate the Lord's Supper or Communion every week. We believe that the Lord's Supper (bread and wine) is the true body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins and strengthening of our faith. The Lord's Supper is for baptized Christians who believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to Salvation, repent of their sins, believe they are receiving Christ's body and blood and by God's strength intend to amend their sinful lives.
What's available for the kids?
We have a nursery in the back of the sanctuary so that you or the children can hear the message and watch through a large window.
What does the Lutheran (LCMS) denomination believe?
Lutheranism had it's beginnings in 1517, when Martin Luther publicly called for the correction of errors in the medieval church. Luther was a pastor, professor, author, composer of hymns and reformer. His ideas still stimulate new thinking in the church . He is respected, but NOT WORSHIPPED! (taken from Being Lutheran booklet).
We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God. We are welcomed to heaven not because of the merit of our own works, but by the free gift of faith in God and by His grace our sins are not counted against us. Daily reading of Holy Scripture reinforces our faith and guides our steps through life.
